The Kogi State Government has recorded significant progress in the implementation of its Kogi Rebrand 2026 agenda through strengthened collaboration with key development partners, including the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD), the Agro-Climatic Resilience in Semi-Arid Landscapes (ACReSAL) programme, the Livestock Productivity and Resilience Support (L-PRES) project, and the Hydroelectric Power Producing Areas Development Commission (HYPADEC).

Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo’s administration in a coordinated partnership framework is delivering measurable outcomes in agriculture, livestock development, environmental sustainability, and rural infrastructure, with a strong emphasis on inclusive growth and climate resilience across the state.

The government noted that a key factor driving the success of these interventions has been the consistent and timely payment of counterpart funds by the state. This commitment has strengthened partner confidence, accelerated project implementation, and ensured the continuity of development programmes across sectors.

Through IFAD-supported interventions, the state has expanded support to smallholder farmers by improving access to agricultural inputs, extension services, and modern farming practices. The programme has also strengthened agricultural value chains, improved post-harvest handling, and enhanced market access for rural farmers, resulting in increased productivity and improved rural livelihoods.

Under the ACReSAL programme, Kogi State has scaled up erosion control and land restoration projects in several communities affected by environmental degradation. Interventions have included drainage construction, watershed management, flood mitigation works, and the promotion of climate-smart land-use practices. These efforts have helped reduce environmental risks and improved the usability of agricultural land in affected areas.

The L-PRES project has also recorded gains in livestock productivity and animal health management across the state. Livestock farmers have benefited from vaccination campaigns, veterinary services, and improved husbandry practices aimed at boosting production and reducing losses. The project has further supported conflict mitigation efforts in livestock corridors through structured grazing systems and community-based dialogue mechanisms.

Similarly, HYPADEC interventions have continued to deliver infrastructure and livelihood support to riverine and hydroelectric host communities in Kogi State. Achievements include the rehabilitation of rural infrastructure, provision of basic amenities, environmental management projects, and livelihood support programmes targeted at vulnerable groups, including women and youths.

The state government has reaffirmed its commitment to sustaining these partnerships, describing them as central to achieving the objectives of the Kogi Rebrand 2026 vision, which seeks long-term transformation in agriculture, livestock development, infrastructure, and environmental management.

The impact of these programmes, supported by counterpart funding and coordinated implementation, is gradually positioning Kogi State as an emerging model for integrated rural development and climate resilience in Nigeria.
