Ododo Donates ₦20,000 Each to 1,490 NYSC Members Deployed to Kogi

Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, has donated ₦20,000 each to 1,490 National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members deployed to the state, amounting to ₦29.8 million, to support them as they commence their primary assignments across the state.

The Governor also reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to youth development, empowerment and the creation of an enabling environment for young people to contribute meaningfully to the socio-economic development of Kogi State.

Governor Ododo made the commitment during the closing ceremony of the 2026 Batch ‘B’, Stream II NYSC Orientation Course held at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp in Asaya, Kabba, Kogi State.

Represented at the ceremony by the Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Hon. Aridaojo Monday Anyebe, the Governor said the cash donation was aimed at assisting the corps members with transportation and other immediate needs as they proceed to their respective places of primary assignment.

He expressed confidence in the capacity of young Nigerians to excel and make meaningful contributions to national and community development, urging the corps members to deploy the knowledge and skills acquired during their three-week orientation programme to the benefit of their host communities.

Governor Ododo charged the corps members to be responsible ambassadors and agents of positive change, encouraging them to share useful knowledge and skills while participating actively in initiatives designed to improve the lives of people in their communities.

He said his administration would continue to strengthen youth-focused programmes aimed at enhancing productivity, self-reliance and the overall wellbeing of young people in Kogi State.

The Governor congratulated the corps members on successfully completing their orientation course and urged them to uphold the values of discipline, integrity, patriotism and service throughout their service year.

He also assured them of the state government’s commitment to their safety and welfare while serving in Kogi, while appealing to host communities to provide a safe, welcoming and supportive environment for the corps members.

Speaking at the ceremony, the Kogi State NYSC Coordinator, Mrs. Chris Moneke Chika Tochi, said the corps members had undergone three weeks of intensive physical, mental and moral re-orientation designed to equip them with the knowledge, information and skills required for a successful service year.

The NYSC coordinator commended Governor Ododo for his consistent support for corps members deployed to Kogi State, particularly through donations of food items and financial assistance.

She described the latest ₦29.8 million intervention as timely, saying it demonstrated the Governor’s concern for the welfare of corps members and would provide immediate relief as they move to their places of primary assignment.

A total of 1,490 corps members were deployed to Kogi State for the 2026 Batch ‘B’, Stream II orientation exercise held at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp in Asaya, Kabba.
