By Abah Benjamin Eneojoh Okene, Kogi State May 27, 2026 Kogi State Governor, Ahmed Usman Ododo, has called on the people of Kogi State to imbibe the virtues of sacrifice, unity, peace, and compassion as Muslims across Nigeria celebrate this year’s Eid-el-Adha. The governor made the appeal today shortly after observing the two Rakat Eid prayer at the Okene Eid praying ground, where he joined thousands of Muslim faithful in marking the sacred festival. Governor Ododo described Eid-el-Adha as a season that goes beyond merriment, noting that the celebration serves as a reminder of the enduring values of love, selflessness, obedience to God, and care for humanity. According to him, the spirit of the festival should inspire citizens to extend kindness to the less privileged, promote peaceful coexistence, and continue to pray for the progress and stability of the nation. “Eid-el-Adha teaches us the virtues of sacrifice, love, peace, and compassion for one another. This is a time to support the needy, strengthen our bonds of unity, and pray for Nigeria and our leaders. I urge all Kogites to continue to uphold these noble values,” the governor stated. He also called for prayers and support for the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, stressing that nation-building requires collective commitment, patience, and shared responsibility from all citizens.
