FRC, KGRIS Partner to Strengthen Transparency and Revenue Mobilisation

The Fiscal Responsibility Commission (FRC) has continued its sensitisation engagement with Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) in Kogi State, with the Commission’s Chairman, Hon. Jimoh Muhammed leading the team to the Kogi State Internal Revenue Service (KGRIS)

The FRC delegation was received by the Chairman of KGRIS, Dr. Sule Salihu Enehe, as the Commission sustained its efforts to deepen understanding and compliance with the principles of fiscal responsibility across the state’s public institutions.

Speaking during the engagement, the chairman, Mallam Jimoh reiterated the importance of transparency, accountability, prudent management of public resources and strict adherence to established fiscal principles in the administration of public finances.

He explained that the sensitisation programme was designed to strengthen the capacity of MDAs to understand their responsibilities under the fiscal responsibility framework and to encourage practices that promote efficiency, accountability and sustainable financial management.

According to him, fiscal responsibility goes beyond the preparation and implementation of budgets, stressing that it also encompasses proper documentation, responsible use of public funds, transparency in financial operations and accountability to the people.

The FRC Chairman noted that effective fiscal governance requires the collective commitment of all public institutions, particularly agencies with important roles in the management and generation of public revenue.

He said the Commission would continue to engage relevant institutions through dialogue, sensitisation and technical support, with the broader objective of strengthening fiscal discipline and promoting responsible management of public resources.

Responding, the Chairman of KGRIS, Dr. Sule Salihu Enehe, expressed the Service’s readiness to strengthen its collaboration with the Fiscal Responsibility Commission, noting that greater institutional synergy would enhance transparency, accountability and responsible revenue management.

He appreciated the Commission for the sensitisation initiative and said KGRIS remained open to continued engagement aimed at strengthening fiscal governance in the state.

The engagement with KGRIS forms part of the Commission’s ongoing sensitisation visits to key institutions in Kogi State, aimed at fostering greater awareness of fiscal responsibility principles and encouraging stronger collaboration between the Commission and public institutions.

The Commission reaffirmed its commitment to working with MDAs to improve compliance, strengthen accountability and contribute to a more transparent and sustainable public financial management system in the state.
