By Rotimi Odofin Kogi State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to prioritizing the health sector, with a particular focus on eliminating malaria across the state. The State Coordinating Commissioner for Health, Dr. Abdulazeez Adams Adeiza, made the remark during the ongoing Batch A and B State Training of Trainers (SToT) on the 2026 Seasonal Malaria Chemoprevention (SMC) implementation in Lokoja. Represented by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Mr. Maji Enoch, Dr. Adeiza emphasized the state government's dedication to collaborating with development partners to achieve malaria elimination, aligning with the federal government's objectives. The Commissioner urged participants in the training programme to demonstrate diligence and dedication, stressing the importance of collective efforts in successfully implementing the SMC goals and objectives. He expressed deep appreciation for the Malaria Consortium and other stakeholders for their unwavering commitment to making Kogi State a malaria-free society. Since May 14th, the State Ministry of Health, in partnership with the Malaria Consortium, has successfully conducted the Batch A and B State Training of Trainers (SToT) on the 2026 SMC implementation. Participants were drawn from the 21 Local Government Areas (LGAs) across the state, including LGA teams, state supervisors, and field officers, while the event was attended by dignitaries such as the Permanent Secretary, Director of Public Health, partners, Zonal Program Manager, SMEP PM and team, facilitators from the National Malaria Elimination Program and members of the Malaria Consortium.
