The World Communication day is an annual event celebrated globally to foster and encourage the rights, to proper and peaceful way to communicate with one another. This is because humans are social beings, and no Man is an island; no man is on his own !

We are all deeply connected, relying on one another for survival, emotional support and shared progress.

No one can truly thrive or function completely independently without the other .

To this effect, the Catholic church declared 17th May around the world to celebrate this day. This year marks the 60th anniversary with the theme “Preserving Human Voices and Faces”.

This Sunday marks the World Communications Day.

Christians around the world are called to value themselves and the sacredness of human presence in the digital age. In a word increasingly dominated by Artificial Intelligence and virtual interaction, people are called to safeguard the authenticity of human voices and faces. The church calls for the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) rightly and morally, not to cause harm or confusion.

This was contained in a Message by the Holy Father Pope Leo XIV who said that Human Voices and faces must be preserved and Artificial Intelligence has come to help us and not to cause dysfunctionality .

The Holy Father emphasizes that our ability to think, reflect and relate with one another must be our top most priority and when we depend much on artificial intelligence, we risk losing our creativity, our wisdom and even our humanity through loss of relationships relationships. Instead of hiding behind filters, fake images or cloned voices, we must protect our true identity and voices and faces to share love, truth and the gospel, Artificial Intelligence should be used truthfully and wisely.

The Pope also cautioned against the dangers of false

information, online manipulation, and the divisiveness

technology can cause amongst people. We must be careful,

think critically, and always seek the truth.

The Pope therefore calls for responsibility,

cooperation, and education :

* Responsibility from _tech_ companies,

governments, and media to protect human

dignity.

* Cooperation among all (Churches, families,

schools, and society) to guide digital

innovations.

* Education for especially the youth,

to learn media and AI literacy so that

technology serves humanity, not the other

way around.

Pope Leo XIV encourages us to cherish real

_human_ relationships. Machines can simulate

friendship, but they cannot give love. We need faces

and voices to speak for people again, and we must use

communication to build unity, trust, and peace.

Our faces and voices are God’s gifts. Let us protect

them, use them wisely, and never allow technology to

replace the love, truth, and presence that make us truly human.

Artificial intelligence is a good thing that we must use appropriately and effectively.
