Kogi State Government today 7th February 2025 signed a Memorandum Of Understanding (MOU) with the Pora Films towards establishing its State owned Television Station.

The Secretary to the Government of Kogi State, Pastor (Mrs) Folashade Arike Ayoade (PhD) signed the MOU on behalf of His Excellency, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo.

She signed the MOU alongside with the State Commissioner for Information and Communications, Honourable Kingsley Fanwo and the management team, and Co-founder Pora Films.

The Secretary to the Government of the State described the signing of the MOU as a historic moment as it formalised partnership that would transform the media landscape of Kogi State.

According to her, the signing of the MOU between the Kogi State Government and Pora Films marked the beginning of a new era that would establish the first state owned Television Station in the 33 years of the creation of Kogi State, explaining that the project is not just about broadcasting, but about telling the Kogi story, showcasing its culture, promoting investment opportunities and giving the state the global visibility it deserves.

She reiterated the State Government’s confidence that Pora Films would deliver a world class Television Station that would place Kogi State on the national and global map, stressing that the Station is not just for information dissemination but a strategic tool to drive development and investments into Kogi State.

She charged the Pora Films to give the state the best in order to justify the confidence reposed on the organization.

Dr Folashade stated that the Ministry of Information and Communications would play a pivotal role in coordinating and midwiving the processes leading to the successful launch of the Kogi State Television, stressing that they were committed to ensuring that the project is executed with the highest level of professionalism so as to enable Kogi State take its rightful place among leading broadcasting platforms, including DSTv and startimes.

The State Commissioner for Information and Communications, Hon. Kingsley Fanwo on behalf of the Ministry appreciated the State Government and the Chief Servant of the state, Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo for bringing the dream to a reality.

Hon Fanwo assured the Governor, SGS and the entire cabinet that the choice of the Pora Films was a pain-taking exercise that was done to ensure that they do not run the Kogi Television like every other agencies and parastatals, but professionally and in line with global best standards.

He assured the State Government that the Ministry would deliver the project and also make the Television Station one of the best in the Country.

The Co-founder of PORA Films, Mr Olajide Ojoniyi in remarks assured the State Government of delivering quality job as the company has been achieving projects for DSTv and some other channels for the past 10 to 15 years.

He promised to provide the best that the Executive Governor and the people would be proud of.

The MOU is a Public Private Partnership which is expected to last for five years and renewable for two years after which it would be handed over to the State Government fully.
