By Abah Benjamin Eneojoh Lokoja July 9, 2026 Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, has reaffirmed his administration's commitment to making Kogi one of Nigeria's safest corridors for road users, calling for stronger collaboration between governments and road safety stakeholders while donating 10 electric patrol motorcycles to the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) to enhance its operational efficiency. Governor Ododo made the announcement at the Government House, Lokoja, while receiving the Corps Marshal of the FRSC, Shehu Mohammed, and his delegation shortly after he was invested as the Grand Patron of the Special Marshals of the Federal Road Safety Corps. Describing Kogi as the nation's gateway connecting Northern and Southern Nigeria, the Governor noted that the heavy volume of traffic passing through the state places enormous responsibility on his administration to ensure safer highways, efficient traffic management and rapid emergency response. He stressed that improving road safety remains a shared responsibility, urging stronger partnerships among the Federal Government, state governments and all stakeholders to reduce road crashes and protect the lives of Nigerians. In a major boost to road safety administration in the state, Governor Ododo announced the elevation of the Senior Special Assistant on Road Safety Matters, Hon. Yusuf Suberu, to the position of Special Adviser, in recognition of his dedication, professionalism and outstanding contributions to advancing road safety initiatives across Kogi State.
