Kogi Water Resources Commissioner, Engr. Yahaya M.D. Farouk Preaches Godliness, Pledges Support At 35th Edition of Quran Recitation Competition In Line With Gov. Ododo’s Vision

The Honorable Commissioner for Water Resources, Engr. Yahaya M.D. Farouk, FNSE, has urged Muslim faithfuls to take their religion more seriously in order to draw closer to Almighty Allah. Engr. Yahaya M.D. Farouk was speaking at the 35th Edition of the Quran Recitation Competition held in Lokoja, Kogi State capital on Sunday.   The Honorable Commissioner who was the Chairman at the occasion, noted that it was beneficial to get closer to Allah , especially at this moment when several challenges are confronting the society. He also urged parents to encourage their children and wards to learn more of Islamic education, stressing that such Quranic studies was a cardinal way of learning and knowing more of Islam.   Engr. Yahaya M.D. Farouk expressed profound appreciation to the members of the organizing committee, the panel of judges, and the participants for their respective contributions toward the propagation of Islamic values and service to Allah.   "This is where Islamic values begin, learning more of the Quran, here we can see Children doing wonders, they should be encouraged to do more, parents, guardians should enrol their children into this venture because it is very profitable", the Commissioner remarked Engr. Farouk emphasized that no contribution is ever too big or too small when it comes to the service of Almighty Allah, urging them to do more to strengthen the program. While presenting the award to the overall winner, the Honorable Commissioner pledged his continued support to the course in order to ensure sustainability of the competition.

Earlier, the Lokoja Local Government Coordinator of the Qur’an Recitation Coordinating Committee,
Alhaji A.D Yakub said the event was to nurture the young ones with a view to inculcating Islamic knowledge and values in them.

Alhaji A.D Yakub said the event was to mark the thirty fifth edition of the competition, thanking the stakeholders and other guests for honouring the programme.

Reports indicate that some government functionaries, Muslim scholars, and other prominent persons attended the event.
