Kogi State Commissioner for Water Resources, Engineer Yahaya M.D. Farouk says the present administration in the state remains committed to all round development, particularly in the area of provision of basic social amenities. Engineer Yahaya Farouk stated this in his office in Lokoja on Monday while receiving the Academic staff of the Faculty of Social Sciences of the Federal University, Lokoja, led by the Dean. He said the provision of basic social amenities remains a major responsibility of government despite the institution being a federal University. He acknowledged the contributions of the staff to the acquisition of knowledge, saying knowledge is power and appealed to them to sustain the spirit. The Commissioner thanked the delegation for the visit and assured that the promise made would be fulfilled by ensuring that it is facilitated before the end of the year. Earlier, the Dean of the Faculty, Professor Gbenga M. N. Omofa expressed appreciation to the Commissioner for his support during the faculty’s recent conference in the institution. Professor Omofa also reminded the Commissioner of his pledge to address water-related challenges in the faculty and sought to know whether a formal request was required to facilitate the intervention as promised. Others in their remarks, including the Deputy Dean, Dr. Aminu Isa and Faculty Officer, Victoria Bilikisu, expressed appreciation to the Commissioner for attending the conference personally and for his assistance towards the success of the Conference.
