Gov. Ododo Condoles Ogah Family, Igala Kingdom, Over Passing of Chief Mrs. Ogah Ajuma Theresa

… Says Her Legacy Will Endure

Kogi State Governor, His Excellency Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, on Thursday attended the funeral service of late Chief Mrs. Ogah Ajuma Theresa at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, Igalaogba, Idah Local Government Area, where he described the deceased as a woman whose life was defined by service, sacrifice and commitment to humanity.

Speaking during the service, Governor Ododo, represented by his Deputy, His Excellency Comrade Joel Salifu, said the late Chief Mrs. Ogah lived a fulfilled life and left behind a legacy that would continue to inspire generations.

He said her contributions to the growth of the Igala Kingdom, especially as a former National Women Leader of the Igala Cultural Development Association (ICDA), would never be forgotten.

According to the Governor, Mama Theresa was a strong advocate of unity, culture and selfless service. He noted that she dedicated herself to promoting the values and traditions of the Igala people while empowering women to contribute meaningfully to the nation.

He sympathize with the Ogah family, urging them to take solace in the impactful life she lived and remain united in preserving the values she stood for.

The Governor prayed for God to grant the deceased eternal rest and give her family, the Igala Kingdom and all loved ones the strength to bear the loss.

Among those who accompanied the Deputy Governor to the service were former Member of the House of Representatives for Idah Federal Constituency, Hon. Emmanuel Egwu, the Deputy Chief of Staff to the Governor, Hon. Hilary Egwudah, the Commissioner for Agriculture and Food Security, Hon. Timothy Ojoma, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Environment and Tourism, Hon. Aboh Ibrahim and Hon. Adejoh Nicodemus, the Chairman of Idah Local Government Area, Hon. Alfa Alilu, and the Chairman of Ofu Local Government Area, Hon. Mohammed Lawal Musa.

Also in attendance were the Director General of the Kogi State Community Watch, Hon. Muhammed Nasir Alfa; the Ejeh of Ofu and Chairman of the Ofu Traditional Council, HRH Alhaji Akwu Obaje; the APC House of Representatives candidate for Idah Federal Constituency, Hon. Victor Uchola Omale, the ADC House of Representatives candidate for Idah Federal Constituency, Pharm. Peter Iduh, lawmakers, traditional rulers and other dignitaries from across the country who gathered to pay their last respects to the deceased.

The late Chief Mrs Ogah Ajuma Theresa, passed-on, on the 16th of July 2026, at the venerable age of 82, after a brief illness. Until her death she was the National Woman Leader of Igala Cultural Development Association ICDA. She is survived by four children, among whom is the Special Adviser to the Governor on Grassroots Mobilization, Hon. Sunday Ogah. Interment followed shortly after the funeral service, at the family house in Angwa Idah.
