Kogi State Governor, Ahmed Usman Ododo, has called on the people of Kogi State to imbibe the virtues of sacrifice, unity, peace, and compassion as Muslims across Nigeria celebrate this year’s Eid-el-Adha.

The governor made the appeal today shortly after observing the two Rakat Eid prayer at the Okene Eid praying ground, where he joined thousands of Muslim faithful in marking the sacred festival.

Governor Ododo described Eid-el-Adha as a season that goes beyond merriment, noting that the celebration serves as a reminder of the enduring values of love, selflessness, obedience to God, and care for humanity.

According to him, the spirit of the festival should inspire citizens to extend kindness to the less privileged, promote peaceful coexistence, and continue to pray for the progress and stability of the nation.
“Eid-el-Adha teaches us the virtues of sacrifice, love, peace, and compassion for one another. This is a time to support the needy, strengthen our bonds of unity, and pray for Nigeria and our leaders. I urge all Kogites to continue to uphold these noble values,” the governor stated.
He also called for prayers and support for the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, stressing that nation-building requires collective commitment, patience, and shared responsibility from all citizens.

Speaking on security, Governor Ododo reaffirmed his administration’s unwavering commitment to protecting lives and property across the state, describing security as a continuous and collective responsibility.

He commended security agencies, community leaders, and residents for their cooperation and timely intelligence, which he said have contributed significantly to the improving security situation in Kogi State.
“Security is everybody’s business. As a government, we will continue to work tirelessly with security agencies and community stakeholders to sustain peace and ensure that Kogi remains safe for all,” he assured.

The governor further urged residents to remain vigilant and avoid harboring criminal elements in their communities, emphasizing that peace and development can only thrive in a secure environment.
Governor Ododo also addressed growing public attention surrounding the widespread rebranding and renewed image campaign across the state, saying the initiative is part of deliberate efforts to reposition Kogi as a destination for investment, tourism, and economic growth.
“There is no magic to it. You dress the way you want to be addressed. Kogi State is blessed with enormous potential in agriculture, solid minerals, tourism, and culture. We must project our strengths positively to attract investors and development partners,” he said.

The governor thanked Almighty God for preserving the lives of Nigerians to witness another Eid celebration and prayed for lasting peace, unity, prosperity, and greater progress for Kogi State and the nation at large.
