Governor Ahmed Ododo of Kogi State has authorized the allocation of N8 billion for various infrastructural projects at the newly established Kogi State University Kabba (KOSUK).
The State’s Commissioner for Education, Hon. Wemi Jones, FCIB, made this announcement during a press conference in Lokoja.
Jones revealed that the approved funds will be used for the construction of the Senate building, Faculty of Science, as well as Male and Female Hostels at the university.
He assured that the contractors have been mobilized to begin work at the university within the next two weeks.
The state government, under the leadership of Governor Ododo, is dedicated to building upon the solid educational foundation laid by the previous governor, Alh. Yahaya Bello.
The Kogi government has made significant investments in education, and Governor Ododo is committed to maintaining and exceeding the 30% budgetary allocation to the education sector.
Governor Ododo, who was part of former Governor Yahaya Bello’s administration, prioritizes the education sector in the state.
In addition to the infrastructural projects, the governor has approved N316 million for bursary awards to 8,750 Kogi indigenes studying in tertiary institutions across the country.
Law students will receive N300,000 each, while other students will receive N30,000 each.
The governor has also approved over N600 million for WAEC fees for 18,734 students in public schools, with the final verification and disbursement process currently underway.
