Kogi Information Ministry Forms Strong Synergy With Mass Communication Students Association MACOSA, As Commissioner Stresses Need For Diligence, Professionalism

By Segun Adegboyega The Kogi State Commissioner for Information and Communications, Honourable Kingsley Femi Fanwo has assured a strong partnership with the Mass Communication Students' Association (MACOSA) Federal University , Lokoja. Honourable Fanwo gave the assurance on Monday in his office while receiving the leadership of the Association on a visit. He charged the students to be professional, saying the profession was a noble one, hence the students should be committed to the course. Fanwo urged the students to be intentional, determined, committed and meticulous as they have chosen Mass Communication as a profession. He encouraged them to invest their time and resources into ensuring that they produce the best. In his words, "By virtue of your profession, you're already a professional. This is your mother Ministry and we are very intentional about contributing to the quality of professionals that our schools produce because they will come back to us. If you want the best, you must invest properly, both the best of your time, the best of your advice, and of course, the best of your resources into ensuring that you produce the best. So you need to shape what you want to be now as you shape the society. You are agenda-setters", Fanwo remarked. Honourable Fanwo gave the assurance on Monday in his office while receiving the leadership of the Association on a visit.

He charged the students to be professional, saying the profession was a noble one, hence the students should be committed to the course.

Fanwo for his exemplary leadership and unwavering commitment to projecting the image of the Kogi State Government under the administration of Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo.

She noted that the purpose of the students’ visit was to express their appreciation to the Commissioner for serving as an outstanding role model and for demonstrating excellence in the field of information and communication.

She further stated that the students were impressed by the remarkable achievements of the present administration, particularly in the areas of communication, education, and other critical sectors that have contributed to the overall development of the state.

She informed the Commissioner that, in recognition of his exceptional performance, professionalism, and dedication to effective public communication, the Department of Mass Communication had selected him as the recipient of the 2026 Most Performing Commissioner for Information and Communications of the Year Award.

According to her, the recognition was in the acknowledgment of the Commissioner’s outstanding efforts in strengthening the Communication sector, fostering a cordial relationship with the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ), Kogi State Council, and successfully driving the Kogi State rebranding initiative, which has significantly enhanced the state’s image.

Speaking on behalf of the students, the President of the Department of Mass Communication, Federal University, Lokoja, Musa Aishat expressed appreciation to the Honourable Commissioner for his remarkable contributions to the development of Kogi State, particularly in the area of information and communications.

 

She described the Commissioner as a father figure and an inspiration to the students, noting that the visit was to commend his outstanding performance .
