Governor Ododo Commissions GYB Model Schools, Reiterates His Unwavering Commitment To Infrastructural Developments

In an effort to fulfil the promise of consolidation and continuity, the Executive Governor of Kogi State, His Excellency, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo has completed and commissioned GYB Model Science Secondary School Nagazi in Adavi LGA and GYB Model Science Secondary School Okebukun in Kabba-bunu LGA of the state. The commissioning which was held today in the two different locations underscores the Chief Servant's unwavering commitment in revamping the educational system by consolating and continuing on the legacies of the immediate past governor, Alhaji Yahaya Adoza Bello. The Chief Servant emphasized that his administration remains committed to creating an identity for Kogi as a state that cherishes knowledge with an achievable ambition to becoming the nation’s knowledge center. He added that school concept has been implemented in strategic locations to ensure that every child regardless of community has access to quality education within a modern and inspiring environment.

Governor Ododo expressed his heartfelt gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his visionary leadership to rebuild Nigeria into her glory by making available more resources to the sub-nationals for infrastructural developments, saying money in the pockets of ghost subsidies had now been used to build schools for the poor, hospitals for the vulnerable, proper healthcare center for the grassroots people, and many more infrastructures.

He highlighted that President Tinubu’s administration has demonstrated courage, clarity, and commitment in laying the foundation for sustainable growth and national prosperity. He pledged that Kogi State had aligned strongly with national vision, and gained inspiration from his leadership and remain committed to translating the vision into tangible outcomes for the people.

He also commended the Minister of Education, Dr. Olatunji Alausa for his presence which reflects the priority the federal government’s commitment places on education as a driver of national development and reinforces the strong collaboration between the federal and the state government.

The Minister of Education, Dr. Olatunji Alausa in his remarks commended Governor Ododo for his visionary leadership, unwavering commitment in repositioning education as a central pillar of development in Kogi State. He further stated that the transformation of the institution from a community secondary school into a modern, well-equipped, and conducive learning environment is highly commendable.

He disclosed that he was impressed by the strategic establishment of GYB Mega Schools across the three senatorial districts in the state, adding that deliberate distribution guarantees inclusivity, promotes equity, and expands access to quality education. He emphasized that he was aware of several impactful policies and interventions that his administration had implemented in the education sector, ranging from free education policy, which is one of its kind in Nigeria and has significantly reduced the
financial burden on families.

He encouraged the students to use the school wisely and develop themselves, assuring them that President Bola Tinubu is making decisions, and investing in their future.

The State Commissioner for Education, Hon. Wemi Jones in his welcome addressed commended Governor Ododo for how he has piloted the affairs of the state in general, particularly his devotion, dedication unwavering commitment to education in kogi state, noting that the state’s intention is to use education to drive away poverty, drive out radicalism, banditry and terrorism.
