Gov Ododo Celebrates Ambassadorial Appointment Of Dr. Sanusi Gamji, Calls For Greater Unity Among Kogites

By Abah Benjamin Eneojoh July 12, 2026 Kogi State Governor, His Excellency Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, on Saturday evening joined prominent sons and daughters of Kogi State, alongside other distinguished Nigerians, at a grand reception in Abuja held in honour of Dr. Sanusi Abubakar Gamji following his appointment as Nigeria's Ambassador to the State of Kuwait. Among the dignitaries in attendance were former Governor of Kogi State, His Excellency Alhaji Yahaya Bello, CON, the Member representing Ikeja Federal Constituency at the House of Representatives, Rt Hon Abiodun James Faleke, the Minister of Steel Development, Prince Shuaibu Abubakar Audu, the Executive Director, Commercial Services, Nigerian Electricity Management Services Agency (NEMSA), Barrister Maimunah Eke Audu, the Kogi State Commissioner for Information and Communication, Evangelist Kingsley Femi Fanwo, the Ohinohi of Ebira land, His Royal Majesty, Alhaji Dr. Ahmed Tijani Muhammed Anaje, as well as friends and well-wishers from within and outside the state.   The Governor represented by his Deputy, Comrade Joel Salifu, described Dr. Gamji's appointment as a well-deserved recognition of his competence, patriotism and commitment to humanity, noting that the honour reflects the quality of leadership that Kogi State continues to offer Nigeria. He commended the Ambassador-designate for his remarkable contributions to human capital development and his investments in Kogi State, describing him as a detribalised Nigerian whose philanthropic activities have positively impacted lives across ethnic, religious and political divides. Governor Ododo also expressed appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, for entrusting Kogites with key national responsibilities, assuring the President that Dr. Gamji would justify the confidence reposed in him through exemplary service and diplomacy.

He urged the new Ambassador to leverage his office to strengthen bilateral relations between Nigeria and Kuwait, particularly in the areas of trade, investment, technology transfer and economic cooperation.

The Governor reiterated his administration’s commitment to opening up Kogi State to local and international investors, stressing that the state remains blessed with abundant mineral resources and vast economic opportunities.

Speaking on the significance of the gathering, Governor Ododo said he was encouraged by the large turnout of Kogites from different backgrounds, noting that the unity displayed at the event represents the kind of Kogi State the present administration is working to build.

According to him, the state’s diversity remains its greatest strength and should be harnessed to promote peace, development and prosperity for all.

The Governor congratulated Dr. Gamji on his appointment and assured him of the support, prayers and goodwill of the people of Kogi State as he prepares to assume his diplomatic responsibilities.

The event which brought together the who is who in Kogi state, defying all ethnic, religious and political differences, to celebrate and identify with one of their own, showed unity in diversity.
