Commissioner Levi highlighted that the EIA process is crucial for promoting sustainable development, ensuring legal compliance, and engaging the public to prevent environmental degradation while minimizing long-term costs. He further explained that the exercise enables critical stakeholders and regulatory authorities to fully understand the environmental consequences and risks, leading to more sustainable, informed, and balanced decision-making.   In his address, the Representative of the Minister of Environment, Engr Ahmed Abdullahi, underscored the significance of the EIA process. He noted that the stakeholder strategy engagement serves as an effective platform for public participation and accountability. This platform allows local communities to learn about the projects and express their concerns, thereby fostering accountability as contractors execute the transformative project. The Ministry of Environment is particularly focused on identifying and addressing any potential negative impacts arising from the project's execution to benefit the host community.
