Joseph Adama PRO, KSPHCDA The Executive Director of the Kogi State Primary Healthcare Development Agency (KSPHCDA), Dr. Muazu Omeiza Musa, has charged Directors of Primary Health Care (DPHCs) across the state to take full responsibility and ownership of the health centres under their supervision. Dr. Muazu Omeiza Musa gave the advise at an integrated meeting of the Agency's BHCPF/IMPACT with DPHCs held at the Kogi IMPACT Project Office in Lokoja. He urged them to demonstrate effective leadership, ensure regular supervision and monitor activities, stressing that strong leadership is essential to translating government investments in primary healthcare into improved services for the people. Dr. Muazu Omeiza Musa emphasized that DPHCs must not operate merely as administrative officers, but as leaders who are directly responsible for the functionality and performance of primary healthcare facilities within their jurisdictions. The Executive Director called on them to ensure that health workers are present and committed to duty, essential services are provided consistently, facilities are properly maintained, and challenges affecting service delivery are promptly identified and addressed. He further stressed the importance of accountability, teamwork and community ownership in achieving sustainable healthcare development and urged DPHCs to make primary healthcare centres truly functional and accessible to the people. Speaking at the event, the Secretary, Kogi State Health Insurance Agency (KSHIA), Dr. Aledare Adekunle, advised Heads of Departments (HODs) in the health sector to take full advantage of the Basic Health Care Provision Fund (BHCPF) to strengthen healthcare delivery and improve access to quality services for residents. …
