Kogi NFWP-SU Ignites 8-Day Ward Facilitators

State Project Coordinator, Nigeria for Women Program Scale-Up Project, Dr. Esther Ameadaji, on Wednesday led the NFWP-SU team on a tireless push to make Kogi women economically resilient and empowered through the innovative Women Affinity Groups (WAGs) model. The training which kicked off in Dekina Local Government Area, was aimed to equip Ward Facilitators with essential skills to form Women Affinity Groups. Training sessions cover overview of the project, the 7 non-negotiable WAG principles, role-playing meetings, the role of social funds, and drafting group constitutions with full member input, as Facilitators are mastering WAG basics to help drive community-led development. Dr. Ameadaji, alongside ICB Advisor Mr. Simon Agada and Livelihood Advisor Dr. Udekina Menyaga, is facilitating the intensive 8-day program to cascade these essential tools statewide. Furthermore, the WAGs model is central to the project's mission, as it unlocks powerful benefits by directly aligning with the Project Development Objective (PDO). These groups provide women with improved access to funding, foster collective empowerment, and build the foundation for sustainable livelihoods through promoted savings, skill-building, and pathways to economic independence. This momentum in Dekina LGA follows a parallel success in Okene LGA, where 120 Ward Facilitators have already completed their training and are now actively forming WAGs within their communities, and with the upcoming sessions scheduled for Yagba East LGA, the Nigeria for Women Program Scale-Up Project continues to build crucial capacity at the grassroots level, systematically working towards its goal of transforming the economic landscape for women across Kogi State.
