The Kogi State government is committed to fostering inclusivity for women in sports, as affirmed by the Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Hon. Aridaojo Monday Anyebe.
During a recent ceremony in his office in Lokoja, Commissioner Anyebe received an award for Gender Equality Balancing—recognizing the state’s commitment to equal representation of male and female athletes. This accolade was presented by the Nigeria Olympic Committee’s Women Commission following the successful conclusion of the Gateway Games in Abeokuta, Ogun State.
Kogi State was honored with a trophy for achieving gender-balanced representation at the national sports festival, highlighting the state’s dedication to promoting equality in sports.
Commissioner Anyebe emphasized that this recognition reflects the progressive leadership of Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo, who has prioritized gender sensitivity and fairness for all citizens. He noted that the award was anticipated, given the current administration’s commitment to involving women in sporting activities across the state.
In his remarks, Hon. Anyebe commended the athletes for their resilience and sportsmanship throughout the games. He congratulated those who earned medals and expressed optimism for even greater achievements in future competitions. The Commissioner also extended his gratitude to Governor Ododo for his unwavering support for the growth and development of sports in Kogi State.

Leading the team of management from the sports council for the presentation of the Award Elder Adejoh Akowe described the State Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo as a Man honour and integrity in the development of sporting activities in the state.
