A social cultural organization and the umbrella body of the Okun people of Kogi State, Okun Development Association has expressed unalloyed support to the Governor of the State, Alh. Ahmed Usman Ododo.

The Association made this known when its leadership paid a working visit to the State Commissioner for Information and Communications, Hon. Kingsley Femi Fanwo .

During the meeting, Ambassador Rotimi, leader of the team, expressed their gratitude for the ongoing progress in Kogi State University, Kabba.

He thanked Governor Ododo for building on the strong foundation laid by former Governor Yahaya Bello, ensuring that Okunland has a university for accessible education for their children.

“The Okun people are truly appreciative of the changes we are witnessing under this administration. Without partisan bias or political motives, the Okun nation is pleased with the evidence of development around us,” Mr. Rotimi stated. “The Kogi State University in Kabba stands as a shining example of a people-oriented administration, and we are grateful for the prompt intervention concerning the new university in Okunland. Thank you for enhancing the legacy of former Governor Yahaya Bello.
Like Oliver Twist, we will continue to ask for more.”

In response, Hon. Kingsley Fanwo urged the ODA to unite the Okun people for a cohesive Okun nation, emphasizing that unity is essential for development. He encouraged the ODA to establish a platform for everyone to come together to foster growth in Okunland.

The Hon. Commissioner urged the ODA to fully support Governor Ododo, describing him as a humble leader committed to the transformative development of the state. He also encouraged the Okun people to explore agricultural ventures for sustainable livelihoods.

“I am very impressed that the ODA is beginning to recognize the importance of engaging with the current government,” Hon. Fanwo remarked. “The leader at the helm of affairs is a humble, humane, and considerate individual—a fair-minded leader committed to leaving a legacy of humanity and humility. We, as the Okun people, can rally behind him to support his administration.”

He continued, “Governor Ododo has shown his commitment to Okunland. Take, for instance, the university in Kabba—his promise to fund the project is being realized. Many improvements are evident, including developments on township roadways, healthcare facilities, and educational institutions. These efforts not only enhance the infrastructure but also promote economic growth and community well-being.

Hon. Fanwo proudly announced an upgrade of 72 primary health care centers across the state, enhancing their ability to provide secondary health services to the community. “I have reviewed the list, and I can confirm that Okun is benefiting considerably, with no less than 30% of the upgraded centers serving the region,” Hon. Fanwo emphasized.

As we move forward, it is essential that we continue to work together to build upon these successes. The commitment from Governor Ododo and his administration exemplifies a dedication to serving the people of Okunland, fostering a brighter future for all residents.

I call on everyone to stay engaged and support ongoing initiatives that contribute to the progress of our community. Together, we can achieve great things. Thank you for your continued support and dedication to the development of Okunland.
