Kogi State Commissioner of Water Resources, Hon. Engr. Yahaya MD Farouk, has disclosed that the Kogi State  Water Law will soon be made operational in the State.

Eng. Yahaya made this known in his office while meeting with members of the Association of Water Well Drilling Rig Owners and Practitioners (AWDROP) in Lokoja.

He emphasized the importance of harmonizing the water law with other existing laws to ensure its effectiveness and success.

Eng. Yahaya highlighted the significance of water governance and stressed the need for collaboration with relevant organizations to achieve the sector’s goals.

He praised AWDROP for their commitment to providing clean water across the state and expressed optimism based on the organization’s membership.

Eng. Yahaya assured the group that the government would support initiatives aimed at advancing Kogi State.

Earlier, the National Vice President of AWDROP, Engr. Dayo Opeyemi, mentioned that Kogi State is a land of opportunities and that hosting the association’s conference in the state was strategic.

He urged the government to collaborate with AWDROP for mutual benefits.

Professor Ikoola Okunlola, a member of the association, highlighted the impact of clean water on public health, attributing eighty per cent of communicable diseases to the lack of potable water.

He pledged to provide one hundred boreholes in each of the twenty-one local government areas to commemorate the one hundred days in office of His Excellency Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, the Executive Governor of Kogi State.
