The Kogi State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal has declared Usman Ododo as the duly elected Governor of Kogi State.

The tribunal, consisting of three members led by Justice Ado Birnin-Kudu, upheld the election of the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, dismissing the petition filed by Muritala Ajaka of the Social Democratic Party (SDP).

Justice Birnin-Kudu stated that the SDP and its candidate failed to provide sufficient evidence to support their allegations against the respondents.

Following the November 11, 2023, Kogi governorship election, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) announced Ododo as the winner with 446,237 votes. Ajaka came in second with 259,052 votes, and Dino Melaye of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) secured 46,362 votes.

This ruling solidifies Ododo’s position as the legitimate Governor of Kogi State, as determined by due process and the rule of law.
