The Legacy Continues as Kogi Shines in ACReSAL Ratings

Kogi State continues to demonstrate excellent delivery in all sectors as the state shines again in the Agro-Climatic Resilience in Semi-Arid Landscapes (ACReSAL), winning notable Awards.

The State was rated the best in the area of Environmental Safeguards and also in Monitoring and Evaluation Oversight. Kogi came second in Transparency and Integrity.

One of the greatest achievements of the Yahaya Bello Administration in Kogi State is the unbending commitment to environmental protection. It is a deliberate policy to protect the people from hazards resulting from failure to put in place safeguards to protect the environment. The World Bank and the Federal Ministry of Environment have given Kogi her deserved flowers in that regard.

The Kogi Office of ACReSAL has also been rated the best in Monitoring and Evaluation Oversight. One of the legacies of the New Direction Administration of Governor Yahaya Bello is ensuring that Kogi’s resources work for Kogi people. To achieve this, the State Government put in place a monitoring and evaluation team to ensure quality service delivery to the people. It is no surprise also that the State also came second in the area of Transparency and Integrity. On assumption of office, Governor Yahaya Bello put in place, transparency nets to curb corruption in all sectors of the Kogi economy. Today, the World Bank through ACReSAL has shown the whole world how Kogi has been prudent and transparent in applying state resources.

kogistate.gov.ng can authoritatively report that the ratings were announced by the World Bank ACReSAL Team at a well attended event in Abuja. It would be recalled that Kogi State has continued to make the best of partnerships with international organizations to better the lots of her people under the present administration of Alh. Yahaya Bello.

The Kogi Team to the epochal event was led by the State Commissioner for Environment, Hon. Adewale Omofaye who doubles as the Chairman of the Kogi State ACReSAL Steering Committee. The delegation also included the Co-Chairmen who are the Commissioners for Water Resources as well as Agriculture.

The resourceful State Project Coordinator of the Project, Barr. Ladi Ahmed Jatto, OON was also on hand to witness Kogi’s day of glory as the state shone like a million stars. The Permanent Secretary, Kogi State Ministry of Environment who is also the State Technical Committee of the project was also in attendance as well as the Permanent Secretaries from the Ministries of Agriculture and Water Resources and the Head, Project Financial Monitoring Unit (HPFMU) were all at the Stakeholders Engagement which was put together to provide a platform for interface between the World Bank and the implementing partners. It was also aimed at assessing the performance of the participating states.

Speaking at the event, the State Commissioner for Environment, Hon. Omofaye said the feat achieved by the State ACReSAL was made possible by the determination of the State Governor to ensure a safe environment in the state.

The State Coordinator of the Project, Barr. Ladi Ahmed Jatto assured Kogites that nothing would be spared to ensure the sustainability of ACReSAL, thanking the State Governor for leading from the front and by providing the needed support for the State ACReSAL project to excel.

Her words: “We thank the World Bank for providing this wonderful platform and we also thank our Governor in Kogi State who has been deliberate in leading from the front and providing all that we need to excel in the area of providing safe environment for our people. These ratings and awards are a great impetus to make us do more.

“One strong area of the present administration in Kogi State is the strength of institutional frameworks to achieve set goals. Kogi State will continue to shine in this area and others”, she assured.
