Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, has assured the people of Kabba-Bunu Kingdom of his administration’s determination to sustain security operations across the area until residents can live and carry out their daily activities without fear, declaring that no amount of pressure would deter his government from protecting lives and property.
Governor Ododo gave the assurance while receiving a delegation of traditional rulers, community leaders, political stakeholders, women and youths from Bunu Kingdom, who visited him in a solidarity engagement at the Government House, Lokoja.

The governor, who expressed appreciation for the show of solidarity, described his relationship with the people of Kabba-Bunu as divinely ordained, recalling that his visit to the kingdom during consultations ahead of the 2023 governorship election convinced him of the people’s genuine affection and commitment to community development.
Ododo said the warm reception accorded him by traditional rulers during the visit, as well as their collective appeal for the grading of ungraded traditional rulers, left a lasting impression on him and strengthened his resolve to respond positively to the legitimate aspirations of the people.
He commended the kingdom for what he described as its longstanding support and loyalty, adding that the appointment of some of its sons and daughters into strategic positions in his administration reflected the importance of inclusion and collective responsibility in governance.

He maintained that protecting residents remained a priority, regardless of the financial and operational demands involved, and urged community stakeholders to remain united in supporting efforts to confront criminal elements.
The governor also commended the state security team, particularly the State Security Adviser, Commodore Jerry Omodara, for their efforts in tackling insecurity, noting that the government remained committed to ensuring that residents could return to their farms and businesses without fear.
Earlier, Chairman of the Bunu Development Association, Pastor Kolawole Johnson, presented the community’s position on unity, security, inclusive governance and development, reaffirming the people’s commitment to peaceful coexistence and cooperation with the state government.
Johnson expressed appreciation to Governor Ododo for appointing sons and daughters of the area into positions of responsibility, particularly Commodoer Jerry Omodara, the State Security Adviser, and Hon. Wemi Jones, Commissioner for Education.
In his remarks, the State Security Adviser, Commoder Jerry Omodara, described the solidarity visit as an important demonstration of unity among the traditional rulers, political leaders, professionals, women and youths of Bunu land.

Omodara said the community had continued to strengthen its internal structures through platforms such as the Bunu Elders Forum and the Bunu Women Development Forum, noting that cooperation among the different groups was essential to achieving sustainable development.
Also speaking, the Commissioner for Education, Hon. Wemi Jones, expressed appreciation to the Governor for sustaining investment in education, particularly at Kogi State University, Kabba, and the GYB Modern Science Secondary School Okebukun.
He attributed the development to the administration’s continued support for the state’s education sector and its commitment to building on earlier investments in the sector.
