Kogi United football club has emerged as the champions of the North Central pre-season tournament in Abuja.

This victory was celebrated by the state Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Hon Monday Anyebe, who assured of the government’s commitment to the growth of sporting activities in Kogi State.

During a meeting with the state chairman of Kogi United and some players, Hon Anyebe announced plans to upgrade the Lokoja Confluence Stadium to international standards.

This according to him would not only benefit Kogi United but also attract other clubs to play matches in the state, boosting the local economy.

The Commissioner praised the efforts of the football club and encouraged them to continue to strive for success. He commended them for bringing pride to Kogi State and assured them of the government’s support under the leadership of Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo.

Kogi United’s chairman, Hon Abdulmalik Isah, expressed gratitude for the government’s support and appealed for further promotion of the club.

He highlighted the club’s successful participation in the tournament and its significance as the first trophy won outside the state.

Overall, it is evident that the current administration in Kogi State is dedicated to the development and promotion of sports, with a focus on supporting local teams like Kogi United.
