Kogi L-PRES Initiates Rehabilitation of Nine Livestock Markets, Conducts Bid Closing and Opening Ceremony
In a bid to enhance livestock productivity and facilitate a conducive environment for stakeholders in the livestock value chain, the Kogi State Livestock Productivity and Resilience Support Project (Kogi L-PRES) has commenced the bid closing and opening exercise for the rehabilitation of nine livestock markets across the state.
This initiative is in line with the commitment of the Kogi State Government, led by His Excellency Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, to bolster the livestock business sector.
During the event, the State Commissioner for Agriculture and Food Security, represented by the Permanent Secretary, Engr. Abdulsalam Sagir Mohammed, welcomed the bidders and reiterated the government’s dedication to improving the livestock industry. He wished the participants a successful deliberation.
Dr. Olufemi Bolarin, the State Project Coordinator, assured the six participating bidders of a transparent and equitable evaluation process. He emphasized that the selection of contractors would be based on merit to ensure the project’s success.
Dr. Bolarin highlighted that the renovated markets would facilitate livestock trade by providing secure and well-structured facilities for farmers, traders, and other stakeholders in the value chain.
He also commended His Excellency Ahmed Usman Ododo for his steadfast support in transforming the agricultural sector in Kogi State. Dr. Bolarin emphasized that the rehabilitation efforts would play a pivotal role in enhancing livestock productivity, increasing the incomes of farmers, and driving economic development in the state.
Key officials, including Engr. Abas Ibrahim, Director of Elec, were present to witness the bid opening exercise, underscoring the commitment to transparency and accountability in the evaluation process.
