The Head of Civil Service in Kogi State, Dr. Elijah A. Evinemi (FCA), recently welcomed a high-level delegation from the Kogi State Fiscal Responsibility Commission to his office.
Led by the Chairman of the Commission, Mr. Jimoh Muhammed, the delegation’s visit was focused on enhancing collaboration and raising awareness about the Commission’s core mandate of monitoring and enforcing fiscal discipline within the state. Mr. Muhammed emphasized the pivotal role of the Head of Civil Service as a key link to other ministries and agencies, ensuring seamless communication and cooperation.
During the meeting, Mr. Muhammed underscored the importance of educating civil servants, especially those responsible for managing the state’s financial statements, on the Commission’s objectives of promoting accountability and transparency in the public sector. He highlighted that effective fiscal monitoring not only fosters transparency but also encourages prudent financial management, ultimately leading to a reduction in the state’s debt profile over the long term.
In response, Dr. Evinemi expressed his full support for the Commission and encouraged them to engage with other key stakeholders, particularly those with significant financial responsibilities. He emphasized the necessity of aligning budgetary processes with the Commission’s fiscal guidelines and ensuring that civil servants are well-informed about the Commission’s role, as they play a central role in implementing government policies.
Dr. Evinemi also took the opportunity to commend His Excellency, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo (FCA), for his unwavering dedication to strengthening the civil service. He noted that the delegation’s visit reflects the administration’s broader commitment to promoting good governance, economic stability, and sustainable development in Kogi State.
