Hajia Sefinat Usman Ododo, the wife of the Governor of Kogi State, has committed to ensure comprehensive economic empowerment for women in the state.

This pledge was made during her celebration of International Women’s Day with various women’s groups at the Glass House, Government House in Lokoja.

International Women’s Day, observed annually on March 8th, is a global day dedicated to honouring the accomplishments and successes of women.

Mrs. Sefinat emphasized that this day serves to recognize the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women worldwide, and to inspire them to achieve even more.

The First Lady emphasized her dedication to inclusivity, ensuring that women and children are not marginalized or oppressed in any way. She stressed the importance of focusing on gender equality in economic investments to foster societal growth.

Hajiya Fatima Momoh, the State Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, highlighted the significance of supporting women to drive progress in society.

She emphasized that meaningful development cannot be achieved without empowering women and pledged her office’s full support to Kogi women and children, addressing any systemic barriers they may face.

Princess Kareemat Abdullahi, representing the Commissioner’s wives, underscored the unique and vital roles that women play in families and the nation as a whole.

She encouraged women to rededicate themselves to their work, and families, and support other women.

The Commissioner’s wives pledged unwavering support to the current administration of Alhaji Usman Ododo.
