Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo has emphasized that democracy in Nigeria requires active participation from all citizens.
He made this statement during the celebration of Nigeria’s Twenty-Fifth Democracy Day at the Glass House Government House in Lokoja.
Represented by the Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Hon. Monday A. Anyebe, the Governor urged the people of Kogi State to work together towards achieving the dreams of Nigeria through active involvement in the democratic process.
He highlighted the uninterrupted democracy in Nigeria since 1999 as a reason for celebration.
Governor Ododo commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his dedication to democratic values and economic growth in Nigeria.
He noted the significant progress in infrastructural development, including the expansion of major highways, modernization of rail networks, and enhancement of airports across the country.
Furthermore, the Governor praised the President’s efforts to boost economic growth, reduce unemployment rates, and promote social justice.
The Special Adviser on Youth and Student Matters, Hon. Nihi Oladele John, lauded Governor Ododo’s leadership qualities, particularly in youth empowerment programs.
The Senior Special Assistant on Youth and Women Mobilization, Hon. Charity Omole, called for unity among Nigerians to foster a stronger democracy in the state and the nation as a whole.
