The Kogi State Government has called on the citizens of the State to continue to give credible intelligence to security agencies, saying they can only deliver with helpful information to track criminals.

The State Commissioner for Information and Communications, Hon. Kingsley Fanwo made the call in a statement, Friday, urging the citizens to cooperate with security agencies in order to sustain the onslaught against criminality in the State.

“The administration of Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo is working on re-grafting the security architecture of the State to deal with current realities and matching the growing sophistication of criminals. The State cannot afford to not to crackdown on criminality as it occupies a strategic place in the map of Nigeria.

“As the center of the nation, the State Government will continue to work hard to prevent and tackle criminality to ensure the safety of all residents of the Confluence State”, he said.

Fanwo assured residents of the State of the determination of the Ahmed Usman Ododo Administration to make Kogi uncomfortable for criminal elements, insisting that the number one focus of the government is to ensure adequate security for all and sundry.

He maintained that recent challenges in some flashpoints in the State are “being dealt with appropriately”, saying the Government will always be proactive to prevent crimes from being perpetrated by criminals.

“The government is on top of the situation. We can’t afford to take our foot off the security pedal. The Governor is committed and also deploying resources to ensure every Kogite is safe and free to pursue his or her normal and legitimate businesses.

“Kogi State is emerging as the industrial capital of Nigeria with many A-List businesses opening in the State. The Ododo Administration has also put in place plans to make the State the food basket of Nigeria.

“These plans will not be realistic unless the administration can maintain the existing security in the State and improve on it. The Government of Kogi State is prepared to put every work and resources into ensuring security. But most importantly, the citizens must continue the patriotic drive of volunteering intelligence for security agencies to perform optimally”.

The Information Commissioner also called on the people to protect government infrastructure in their domain, saying the state is focused on building a “community of security conscious people”.
