Fanwo Unveils NG-CARE in Mopamuro, Says Ododo Is Determined to Defeat Poverty

….Commissioner insists intervention must be free of politics, says every eligible beneficiary deserves support regardless of party affiliation

The Kogi State Commissioner for Information and Communications, Hon. Kingsley Femi Fanwo, has unveiled the NG-CARE intervention programme in Mopamuro Local Government Area, declaring that Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo is committed to confronting poverty and improving livelihoods at the grassroots.

Fanwo, who spoke at a stakeholders’ meeting attended by community leaders, government officials and NG-CARE coordinators, described the initiative as a practical intervention aimed at delivering economic relief and sustainable opportunities to vulnerable households.

He said the programme provides cash transfers, public works opportunities, livelihood support grants and agricultural inputs, while empowering communities to identify priority infrastructure projects.

“NG-CARE is about taking development directly to the people. It is about supporting vulnerable households, creating opportunities and giving communities a voice in determining the infrastructure they need.

“The ultimate objective is to create a pathway out of poverty and empower our people to become economically stronger,” he said.

The Commissioner described the initiative as a fulfilment of Governor Ododo’s commitment to extending government support to poor and vulnerable residents across Kogi State.

### ‘Poverty Does Not Know Party’

In a strong message against political interference, Fanwo warned that the programme must not be hijacked by partisan interests, insisting that eligibility—not political affiliation—must determine access to its benefits.

“Even though over 95 per cent of the people of Mopamuro are members or supporters of the APC, this scheme must not be politicised.

“Poverty does not know party. Hunger does not know party. Anybody who qualifies for this intervention should have access to it, irrespective of political affiliation.

“This is about the people, and Governor Ododo is committed to ensuring that government reaches those who need support most,” he declared.

Fanwo urged beneficiaries to deploy the support responsibly, turning the opportunities into sustainable sources of income and improved living conditions.

He also charged community leaders and programme coordinators to uphold transparency, fairness and accountability in the selection of beneficiaries and implementation of projects.

### Dignitaries Attend Stakeholders’ Meeting

The meeting was attended by the Executive Chairman of Mopamuro Local Government Area, Hon. Ademola Bello; Member representing Mopamuro State Constituency in the Kogi State House of Assembly, Hon. Olawumi Jacob; and Special Adviser to the Governor on Culture and Integration, Hon. Moses Sunday David.

Also present were community leaders, NG-CARE coordinators and other stakeholders from across the local government area.
