Kogi Youth and Sports Commissioner, Anyebe Unveils NG-CARES in Olamaboro, Targets 1,857 Beneficiaries, 40 Communities

The Kogi State Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Hon. Aridaojo Monday Anyebe, has unveiled the Nigeria Community Action for Resilience and Economic Stimulus (NG-CARES) programme in Olamaboro Local Government Area, with 1,857 individuals and 40 communities listed for various interventions.

Anyebe, who unveiled the programme at Edoka Hall, Okpo, charged stakeholders across the 10 wards to support its implementation while strengthening unity within the All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of forthcoming elections.

He described NG-CARES as a strategic government intervention designed to bring the dividends of democracy closer to rural communities, particularly vulnerable households, farmers and other residents in need of economic support.

The Commissioner outlined five intervention areas, comprising cash transfers to about 208 vulnerable persons, livelihood grants for 843 beneficiaries and Labour-Intensive Public Works (LIPW) opportunities for 174 persons.

He added that 632 farmers were expected to benefit from agricultural inputs, while 40 communities would receive development interventions through the Community and Social Development Agency (CSDA).

Anyebe said the programme was aimed at improving livelihoods, strengthening economic resilience and accelerating community development at the grassroots.

He urged stakeholders to mobilise support for the initiative, stressing that effective implementation required unity, cooperation and sustained engagement between government and the people.

The Commissioner also called for stronger APC cohesion across Olamaboro ahead of the local government elections and the 2027 general elections, urging party leaders and stakeholders to remain united.

He commended Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo for what he described as his administration’s commitment to inclusive governance and rural development.

Anyebe further reaffirmed his loyalty to the governor, pledging continued support for programmes designed to improve the welfare of residents.

In their separate remarks, stakeholders from the 10 wards applauded the NG-CARES initiative, describing it as an opportunity to improve livelihoods and address community needs.

They pledged their support for the programme’s implementation and reaffirmed their commitment to the Ododo administration.
