Kogi Approves Bursary for Indigenous Students Nationwide

Ododo Administration Secures Payment Approval; Disbursement to Commence Soon

The Kogi State Government has approved the payment of bursary allowances to indigenous students of the state studying in tertiary institutions across the country, in a move aimed at easing the financial burden of education on students and their families.

The State Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Hon. Aridaojo Monday Anyebe, disclosed this when he received the newly reconstituted executive members of the National Association of Kogi State Students (NAKOSS) in his office in Lokoja.

The Commissioner said the necessary approval for the bursary payment had been secured, assuring Kogi students that disbursement would commence soon.

He described the development as part of the administration’s commitment to supporting the welfare of Kogi youths and ensuring that financial constraints do not unnecessarily hinder students in the pursuit of their education.

Hon. Aridaojo also highlighted some of the achievements recorded by the administration of Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo in youth development and sports, noting that the government had continued to create opportunities for young people across the state.

According to him, more than 200 youths have so far benefited from entrepreneurship programmes and grants facilitated by the ministry, providing beneficiaries with opportunities to develop their businesses and become economically productive.

The Commissioner assured the new NAKOSS leadership of the ministry’s continued partnership and support, particularly on initiatives designed to improve the welfare, education and overall development of Kogi students and youths.

He congratulated the newly reconstituted NAKOSS officials on their successful election and charged them to use their tenure to promote unity, peace, responsible leadership and progress within the association.

Earlier, the newly inaugurated President of NAKOSS, Comrade Isiaka Usman Amoto, said the delegation was at the ministry to formally introduce the new executive members to the Commissioner and seek his support and cooperation.

Comrade Amoto commended Hon. Aridaojo for his leadership and commitment to youth development, expressing confidence that the ministry would continue to work closely with NAKOSS for the benefit of Kogi students.

He pledged the loyalty and commitment of the new NAKOSS executive to supporting programmes and policies of the administration of Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo, while assuring that the association would continue to promote the interests and welfare of Kogi students across tertiary institutions in Nigeria.
