By Abah Benjamin Eneojoh August 268, 2026 The Kogi State Governor, His Excellency Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, has described the death of the former APC Dekina Local Government Divisional Chairman, Alhaji Yunusa Ishaq Onuh, as a painful loss to his family, the APC and the entire people of Kogi State. Governor Ododo stated this on Friday during the burial ceremony of the late party chieftain at his compound in Anyigba, Dekina Local Government Area. The burial prayer was observed by many top government officials, party leaders, and stalwarts, including the Auditor-General of Kogi State, Alhaji Yakubu Yusuf Okala, state Commissioner for Poverty Alleviation and Humanitarian Affairs, Hajia Baby Okwute, DG Community Watch and Ancillary Matters, Hon Muhammed Nasiru Alfa, among others. The Governor who was represented by his Deputy, His Excellency Comrade Joel, said nobody envisaged such an unfortunate incident despite the ongoing efforts of the security to keep the road safer, describing the late Alhaji Yunusa Onuh as a committed party man whose death was a major loss to the APC and the people of Dekina. He expressed concern over the activities of criminals along Itobe-Anyigba road, noting that the government would intensify efforts to secure the area. Governor Ododo lamented that many youths were becoming involved in kidnapping and other criminal activities, warning that such acts must not be allowed to continue.
