Lokoja, June 29, 2026 –

The Kogi State Commissioner for Housing and Urban Development, Hon. Abanika Taiye, has reaffirmed the commitment of the administration of Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo to the timely completion and delivery of critical infrastructure projects across the state, including the PENCOM House and the ongoing ultramodern market in Lokoja.

The Commissioner gave the assurance on Monday during an inspection tour of the two projects as part of the Ministry’s routine monitoring and evaluation exercise aimed at ensuring quality delivery and adherence to approved project timelines.

Speaking during the visit, Hon. Taiye commended the contractors handling both projects for the quality of work executed so far and the impressive pace of construction. He, however, urged them to maintain the momentum and ensure that all outstanding works are completed within the stipulated timeframe.

At the PENCOM House project site, the Commissioner expressed satisfaction with the level of work completed, describing the project as a major milestone in the state’s efforts to improve the welfare and service delivery framework for pensioners.

According to him, the facility represents the government’s commitment to creating a conducive environment for the efficient administration of pension matters and ensuring that retirees receive the attention and services they deserve.

While noting that the project is nearing completion, the Commissioner identified a few areas requiring minor corrections and directed the contractors to address them immediately before the final handover of the facility.

Earlier, the Site Architect, Arc. Haliru D. Aguye, informed the Commissioner that the project had reached its completion stage and was being prepared for formal handover to the government.

He explained that the PENCOM House was carefully designed to provide a secure, accessible and dignified environment for the management of pension-related activities for both state and local government retirees.

The Commissioner thereafter proceeded to the site of the ongoing ultramodern market project in Lokoja, where he also expressed satisfaction with the quality of construction work.

He praised the contractor for adhering to specifications and maintaining high standards, while emphasizing the need to accelerate the remaining aspects of the project to ensure its completion within the approved schedule.

Hon. Taiye noted that the ultramodern market, upon completion, would significantly enhance commercial activities in the state capital, provide a more conducive trading environment for business owners, and contribute to the economic growth of the state.

He reiterated the determination of the Kogi State Government under Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo to continue investing in people-oriented infrastructure projects that promote economic development, improve public service delivery and enhance the overall well-being of citizens.

The inspection tour, according to the Commissioner, underscores the government’s commitment to accountability, quality assurance and the successful execution of projects designed to improve the lives of the people of Kogi State.
