Kogi State Government Swears In New Pension Commissioners, Retains Hajia Mariam as DG

By Abubakar Shuaibu .A The Kogi State Government has inaugurated a new Pension Commission, reaffirming its commitment to the welfare of retirees and pensioners across the state. At the swearing-in ceremony held on Tuesday in Lokoja, the Secretary to the Government of Kogi State (SGS), Mrs. Folashade Arike Ayoade, PhD, charged the newly appointed commissioners to work closely with the Director-General to sustain and build on the achievements of the previous board. She emphasized that Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo remains deeply committed to the wellbeing of retired civil servants and revealed that plans are underway to commence the bulk payment of gratuities as the state's revenue improves. Mrs. Ayoade noted that pensions are currently being paid promptly and consistently, and urged the new management team to maintain this standard while discharging their duties with fairness, patriotism, and dedication. She explained that the appointments were based on merit and proven competence, particularly highlighting the exceptional performance of the Director-General, Hajia Mariam Ozioma Abedo, whose reappointment reflects the confidence the government has in her leadership. The newly inaugurated members of the Kogi State Pension Commission are Hajia Mariam Ozioma Abedo as Director-General, while Umar Suleiman Isah, Yakubu Suleiman Aliu, and Ibrahim Bala Mohammed will serve as commissioners.
