This formed the bedrock of discussions on Day 2 of the ongoing Appraisal and Validation of nine (9) Strategic Catchment Management Plans (SCMPs) currently holding in Abuja. Declaring the Technical Session open, the Mandate Secretary of the Department of Agricultural and Rural Development, who was represented by the Director of Rural Development, appreciated the Federal Government for initiating the ACReSAL Project, which is tasked with the responsibility of combating land degradation, fostering resilience and enhancing the livelihoods of the 19 northern states and the FCT. Earlier, in her welcome address, the Project Coordinator, Kogi ACReSAL, Barr. Ladi Ahmed Jatto (OON), stated that the SCMPs being appraised and validated were in line with the "renewed hope agenda" of His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, CGFR on agriculture and food sufficiency in the Country. According to the Project Coordinator, the Strategic Catchment Management Plans being appraised and validated had its blueprint in "Component A" of the Project Development Objective of ACReSAL which is Dryland Management. Today's technical section which drew experts from the civil society and the Academia had presentations on the Gurara- Gbako and Aloma - Konshisha Catchments which dwelt on their Natural Water Resources and social Infrastructure.
