In commemoration of the 2026 Armed Forces Celebration and Remembrance Day, the Kogi State Security Trust Fund (KGSSTF) has presented welfare support package to widows of fallen heroes whose spouses paid the supreme sacrifice in the defence of peace, unity, and security of the nation.

The presentation ceremony, which was held today at the State Headquarters of the Nigeria Legion, formed part of activities lined up to honour the gallantry, courage, and selfless service of members of the Armed Forces and other security personnel who lost their lives in the line of duty.
Presenting the welfare package, the Executive Chairman of KGSSTF, AVM Omeiza Umar Rtd, represented by the Director Administration, Alhaji AbdulKarim Ahmed, described the Armed Forces Celebration and Remembrance Day as a solemn occasion that calls for reflection, gratitude, and renewed commitment to the families left behind by fallen heroes.
He noted that the intervention was aimed at cushioning the socio-economic challenges faced by the widows while reassuring them that the sacrifices of their late spouses would never be forgotten.
” As we mark the 2026 Armed Forces Celebration and Remembrance Day, we are reminded that honouring our fallen heroes must go beyond ceremonial tributes. It must reflect in concrete support for their families. KGSSTF remains committed to standing with the widows and dependents of those who gave their lives for our collective safety.”
In his remarks, Kogi State Chairman of the Nigeria Legion, Warrant Officer, John David (Rtd) who represented the widows, commended the Kogi State Government and the KGSSTF for identifying with widows of fallen heroes at such a significant national remembrance period.
According to him,
” The Nigeria Legion is deeply grateful to the Kogi State Security Trust Fund for this noble initiative. Supporting the widows of our fallen heroes is not just an act of kindness, but a duty we owe those who sacrificed everything for the nation. KGSSTF has shown exemplary leadership and compassion, and we urge other organizations to emulate this gesture.”
He assured the KGSSTF of the continued cooperation and partnership of the Nigeria Legion in promoting the welfare of ex-servicemen, widows, and dependants across the state.
