Kogi State: Confluence of Pipelines, Prosperity, and Opportunities – Gov. Ododo

By Abah Benjamin Eneojoh Government House, Lokoja November 13, 2025 Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, has reiterated his administration's commitment to harnessing the benefits of the Ajaokuta-Kaduna-Kano (AKK) Gas Pipeline Project. The Governor made this statement while attending the AKK Business Development Roadshow, themed "Accelerating Domestic Gas Utilisation and Driving the CNG Revolution along the AKK Corridor," at the Banquet Hall of Government House, Lokoja. The Governor in his speech noted that Kogi State is a confluence of Pipelines, prosperities and Opportunities. In his words "Kogi State is a confluence of Pipelines, prosperities and Opportunities," Governor Ododo declared. "We are here again to let our people know that they have asked us to serve them. The Mandate we are holding today is their mandate and it must work for them. I am just too happy that this is happening during our time. We will consult to make sure that this country leaves in happiness, Kogi State is indeed a confluence of Pipelines, Prosperities and Opportunities." In his keynote address, Governor Ododo highlighted the state's potential for economic transformation, industrial expansion, and sustainable development, saying, "Today's gathering marks a defining moment in our journey towards economic transformation, industrial expansion, and sustainable development. We are united by a shared purpose, to unlock the immense potential of the Ajaokuta-Kaduna-Kano (AKK) Gas Pipeline and explore the vast opportunities it presents for investment, innovation, and industrial growth in Kogi State and across Nigeria." Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, has reiterated his administration’s commitment to harnessing the benefits of the Ajaokuta-Kaduna-Kano (AKK) Gas Pipeline Project.

The Governor made this statement while attending the AKK Business Development Roadshow, themed “Accelerating Domestic Gas Utilisation and Driving the CNG Revolution along the AKK Corridor,” at the Banquet Hall of Government House, Lokoja.

The Governor in his speech noted that Kogi State is a confluence of Pipelines, prosperities and Opportunities.

Executive Vice President PI CNG Olalekan Ogunleye also spoke at the event, saying, “The private sectors are responding and we thought that it was important that as we get to the closest stages of the Abuja-Ajaokuta-Kaduna-Kano pipeline project that we have a function like this where we come together, share experience, and have investors tell us their story.”

Ogunleye added, “Kogi State is excellently positioned to take full advantage of this pipeline. It’s not going to be a major pipeline project without Nigerian gas pipeline that we actually terminating in Ajaokuta.”

The AKK pipeline, valued at $2.8 billion, is nearing completion, with 83.05% of the mainline finished as of July 2025. The project is expected to supply up to 2.2 billion standard cubic feet of gas daily, powering industries and generating electricity in Abuja, Kaduna, and Kano.

Shuaibu noted that the engagement with stakeholders provided an opportunity to review existing structures, identify areas that require better supervision, and outline steps to enhance collaboration with the Kogi State Internal Revenue Service (KGIRS). ‎ ‎“The ministry must be carried along in all matters that relate to its statutory revenue responsibilities.” he stated. ‎ ‎Stakeholders spoke on field operations, coordination gaps, and the need for a clear system that allows the ministry track revenue tied to its mandate. ‎ ‎The Technical Assistant on Revenue Matters and Special Duties, Prince Dan Olaitan Dada, shared observations from the field and emphasized the importance of proper documentation, structured engagement with consultants, and improved communication between the necessary bodies concerned. ‎ ‎Olaitan noted that the ministry must have updated information on operators working on any of its revenue items and should strengthen the verification and profiling system that supports monthly revenue tracking...stating “Having full information on every operator working in the ministry’s name will help us improve monitoring and strengthen our internal processes.” ‎ ‎Directors from key departments highlighted the need for a unified reporting structure that allows the ministry maintain accurate records, stressing the importance of ensuring that zonal officers follow the approved templates, collect verifiable data, and submit reports that support proper planning and budgeting. ‎ ‎Participants also noted the value of improved collaboration with KGIRS to ensure that all statutory responsibilities of the ministry are reflected in revenue administration processes. ‎ ‎He said: “We must follow the right steps and ensure that every process aligns with the law.
