Kogi State Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development Hon. Monday Anyebe says Sports in Kogi State will continue to be given priority.

Hon. Monday Anyebe stated this at the closing ceremony of the Twenty Twenty five National Youth Games in Asaba, Delta State.

Hon. Anyebe who was Represented by the Director Sports Development in the Ministry, Mr Paul Aje said the Government of Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo is a Government of the youths and sports lovers, saying attention will be given to sports sector in the state.

He said with the performance of the athletes at the just concluded National Youth Games, the present administration will be committed to the growth of sports.

The Commissioner disclosed that arrangement have been put in place to remodel the Confluence Stadium, Lokoja to international standard, stressing that such measure will encourage sports development.

He maintained that the best athletes at the just concluded National Youth Games in Asaba will be rewarded accordingly.

The Sports Commissioner expressed appreciation to the athletes and officials for making Kogi State proud at the event, stressing that the Government of Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo is happy with them and called for greater commitment.

Also Speaking, the Kogi State Director Sports Council, Mr. James Abel Igah thanked Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo and the Commissioner of Youth and Sports, Hon. Monday Anyebe for giving attention to sporting activities in the state.

Mr. James Abel Igah on behalf of the athletes and officials promised to do more in subsequent competitions and appealed for more support from the Government.

It will be recall that
Team Kogi has made its mark at the Games by winning two gold medals and four bronze medals in table tennis.

Team Kogi, according to him, also secured four silver medals — one in taekwondo, one in shooting, and two in boxing, Bronze in Chess respectfully.

Despite the tough competition, Team Kogi remains focused and determined to bring home more medals for the state.

A total of Eleven medals have been won by Team Kogi so far at the competition.
