The Kogi State Police Command has taken a significant step towards enhancing justice delivery in the state by strengthening its ties with the Kogi State Public Defender and Citizens Rights Commission (PDCRC). The Commissioner of Police, CP Miller G. Dantawaye, held a strategic conference with senior police officers, emphasizing the need for discipline, professionalism, and lawful conduct in the discharge of their duties.

The Director General of the PDCRC, Barr. Musa Onogo Idris, delivered a sensitization lecture on the mandate of the PDCRC and the Kogi State Violence Against Persons Prohibition (VAPP) Law, 2022. The lecture aimed to enhance collaboration between the police and the judiciary in protecting vulnerable citizens and enforcing the VAPP Law.

The CP appreciated the growing synergy between the police command and the PDCRC, urging officers to deepen their collaboration for a more just and violence-free society. He emphasized the importance of understanding the law and its application in contemporary society, directing area commanders, DPOs, and sectional heads to ensure their personnel are aware of the VAPP Law.

The police command has also engaged with retired police officers in the state, reaffirming its commitment to improving the welfare of both serving and retired officers. The CP presented a token of transport fare to 16 retired officers who attended the meeting, expressing gratitude for their conduct and cooperation with the command.

This development highlights the Kogi State Police Command’s resolve to protect citizens’ rights, enforce laws against abuse and violence, and promote a more just and equitable society. The collaboration with the PDCRC and the engagement with retired officers demonstrate the command’s commitment to justice delivery and the welfare of its personnel.
