The National Electricity Regulatory Commission has granted Kogi State permission to oversee electricity generation and distribution, paving the way for efficient power supply to enhance businesses in the State.

Engineer Abdulmutalib Muhammed, the Commissioner for Rural and Energy Development, made this announcement in Lokoja on Wednesday, November 20, 2024, during a press briefing following the State Executive Council meeting.

He disclosed that the State Executive Council has instructed the electrification of the State Internally Displaced Camp within one week.

Hon Kingsley Fanwo, the Commissioner for Information and Communication, commended Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo for his outstanding performance, stressing the importance of an aggressive investment strategy to boost the state’s economy and create job opportunities for the youth. He emphasized that the state government is dedicated to the security and welfare of its people.

Additionally, Hon Timothy Ojona, the Commissioner for Agriculture and Food Security, shared that the state government has invested over nine billion naira in food security initiatives, leading to Kogi State now having the lowest food inflation rate in the country. This accomplishment is attributed to Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo’s wet season farming initiative, which allocated over seven billion naira in farm inputs and deployed more than 100 tractors across 7,324 hectares of farmland.

The media was also informed that preparations are in progress for the Kogi International Carnival, scheduled for December 1-7.

These advancements underscore the state government’s dedication to improving the quality of life for its residents.
