The Executive Governor of Kogi State today receives the Torch of Unity for the 21st Edition of the National Sports Festival tagged ” DELTA 2022 at the Government House.
Governor Yahaya Bello was represented by his Chief of Staff Pharmacist Jamiu Asuku.
Governor Bello commended the effort of the Federal Ministry of Youth and Sports and the various Committees for their commitment towards ensuring the successful hosting of the Games.
While reiterating his Administration commitment to the development of Sports in Kogi State, he explained that sports has remained a unifying platform for Nigerians and as such government will continue to invest in Sports Development.
The Governor further assured Kogi State Athletes of government support and sponsorship to the National Sports Festival.
Earlier in his remarks, the Hon. Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Hon ldris Musa described the festival as the only games where Athletes are been selected to represent the Country at international Competitions.
Idris Musa who received the Torch of Unity from the representative of the Federal Ministry of Youth and Sports and later handed it over to the Governor stated that the Torch of Unity movement symbolizes the participation of the State at the Forthcoming National Sports Festival.
The National Sports Festival will commenced on the 28th, November to 10th, December 2022.
The event witness the presence of the Permanent secretary, Ministry of Youth and Sports Development, Pastor ltodo Joseph, Chairman kogi United and Confluence Queens,Hon. Abdulmalik Isah, the Director Sports Development,Mr David Ogazuma, Director Kogi State Sports Council, Mr Obakachi Onipe and other management staff of the Ministry and the Sports Council.
