The Deputy Governor of Kogi State, His Excellency Comrade Joel Salifu, today, visited the scene of the road traffic crash along CBN and State Assembly Route in Lokoja. The incident occurred as the prime mover pulled out from the truck which contains load of Animals, goods and passengers. The truck which took-off from Bauchi was headed for Enugu before the crash.
Deputy Governor Joel Salifu on receiving the call of the unfortunate incident arrived at the scene immediately, to access the level of mishaps in other to brief His Excellency Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo for further action.
In a statement according to the Press Secretary to the Deputy Governor, Unubi Emmanuel, the Deputy Governor expressed sadness over the unfortunate crash which led to the loss of 6, and 60 injured perssengers, praying to God to grant the departed souls eternal rest. He assured the people that the government would take proper medical care of the wounded persons, directing that they should be taken to the state specialist hospital and the Federal Teaching Hospital.
He commended the officers of the Federal Road Safety Corps, Kogi Sector Command Lokoja, and the State Emergency Management Agency for their prompt response to the distressed call of the incident, while urging them to continue to collaborate for effective service delivery.
Joel Salifu advised all drivers and motorist to avoid over-speeding and always carryout a routine mechanical supervision on their vehicles for road worthiness before embarking on trips.
