Kogi State Governor Alhaji. Ahmed Usman Ododo has presented a Cheque of N8,850,000 and N1,005,500 Annual Check off Dues to National Association of Kogi State Students (NAKOSS) and National Association of Kogi State Law Students of Nigeria (NAKOLSON).
Presenting the Cheques to the Associations in Lokoja on Monday, the State Commissioner for Education Hon. Wemi Jones urged the students to be prudent in the management of the funds.
The Commissioner reiterated the commitment of the State Government to the welfare of the students, saying that the Government of Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo would continue to prioritize Education in order to reduce poverty in the State.
He enjoined them to be good ambassadors of the State by refraining from all form of social vices.
In his goodwill message, the State Commissioner for Youths and Sports, Hon. Monday Anyebe appreciated to the Governor for the disbursement of the Bursary Allowances to students, saying his Commitment to the welfare of the Youths is unwaivering.
He promised the unalloyed support of the Youths to the administration’s policies and programs.
Speaking, the Executive Chairman Kogi State Scholarship Board, Mr. Afolabi Joseph Raji said the presentation of the Cheques was to demonstrate transparency and accountability in the administration of funds in the Board.
He stated that the money is the Annual Check off Dues deducted from the Bursary all the students who benefited from the 2024 State Government Bursary Allowances to students of kogi origin in tertiary institutions across the State.
According him, the sum of one thousand Naira and Five thousand Naira respectively were deducted from the Bursary of the Undergraduate students and law school Students as their Annual Check off Dues to their respective Associations.
Responding, the National President, National Association of Kogi State Students, Dr. Jeremiah Elukpo commended the Governor for reviving the Bursary Allowances to students of the State origin in the country, saying that the gesture would go along way in addressing the financial challenges of the Students.
He called for a flexible exercise that would enable all the students of the state origin in higher Institutions to benefit from the program.
