The Executive Governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Usman Ododo, has expressed his deep appreciation for the unwavering support and cooperation of the youths and students in the state.
Their commitment to working hand in hand with the government to promote development, peace, and tranquility has not gone unnoticed.
During the Ododo Students Parley event, Governor Ododo, represented by the Auditor General for Local Government, Hon Yakubu Adabenege, praised the intellectual, innovative, creative, and peaceful nature of the Kogi State students and youths.
He acknowledged their significant contributions to the growth and development of both the state and the nation as a whole.
Governor Ododo also commended the students and youths for their recent vote of confidence in his leadership and for refusing to align themselves with the violent elements that have been causing chaos in the streets under the guise of protests.
He urged the students and youths to continue to reject violence and embrace peace, assuring them of his continued dedication to bringing infrastructural development to the state.
He emphasized the importance of their ongoing support in achieving this goal.
Hon. Kingsley Fanwo, the Commissioner for Information and Communications, echoed Governor Ododo’s sentiments, describing the students and youths as invaluable assets to the state.
He lauded Governor Ododo for appointing a youth as Special Adviser for Youth and Students matters, highlighting the government’s commitment to investing heavily in education.
Hon. Fanwo shared his confidence in the Kogi State students, both within and outside the state, as exemplary ambassadors.
He cited the outstanding performance of Kogi medical students, who recently dominated the awards at the Kaduna State University induction ceremony, as a testament to the state’s commitment to excellence in education.
The Hon. Commissioner narrated how Kogi medical students carted away 18 out of 20 awards to the inducted medical doctors in Kaduna State University, in which one person went away with 11 out of the 18, adding that through visionary leaders, Kogi State produced 36 medical doctors on 10th September, 2024, commending Former Governor Yahaya Bello for bringing Alhaji Usman Ododo who is doing extremely well.
He urged the students to shun unnecessary protests and continue to support the administration of His Excellency, Alhaji Usman Ododo, as he remains committed to the welfare of the citizenry and infrastructural development in the state.
The Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Hon. Monday Anyebe in his opening remarks, commended the students and youths for their resilience, dedication, and unwavering support to the administration of His Excellency Alhaji Usman Ododo, demanding their continual support as the Governor, is committed to job creation, empowerment, and security of lives and properties.
The Commissioner for Education, Hon. Wemi Jones, who Dr Animoku Ahman ably represented, enumerated the numerous achievements of FGYB and His Excellency Alh. Usman Ahmed Ododo in the education sector includes the free education policy, 30% budgetary allocation to education, the establishment of two additional State-owned universities, drop in out-of-school children, and access to education for learners, among others.
