Victims of the inferno that occurred at the Ganaja village, outskirts of Lokoja the Kogi State capital have expressed confidence and gratitude to the government of Alhaji Usman Ododo for identifying with them during the tragic event which has destroyed several properties and means of livelihood. The victims thanked the top government officials for their swift response by visiting the scene of the fire outbreak in the heart of Ganaja community of Lokoja metropolis.
On the evening of Friday, March 14, 2025, a devastating fire engulfed a seven-flat building located behind Carrina Primary School in Ganaja Village at approximately 6:42 pm. The inferno caused severe damage to five of the flats, while the remaining two suffered partial damage.
In response to the tragic incident, the Executive Secretary of the Kogi State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), Alhaji Mouktar Atimah, swiftly mobilized his team to assess the extent of the damage and explore possible interventions to support the affected individuals. Alhaji Atimah expressed his heartfelt sympathy to the victims and offered words of comfort during this difficult time.
Additionally, the Special Adviser to the Kogi State Governor on Community Integration and Harmonization, Hon Muhammed Haruna Ganaja, and the Special Adviser on SEMA, Dr. Musa Sandra, visited the scene to show solidarity and offer their condolences to those impacted by the fire.
The fire incident tragically affected seven households, comprising a total of 42 individuals. Regrettably, properties worth over fifty million naira were destroyed in the blaze.
The prompt and commendable response of the Kogi State Emergency Management Agency and other officials demonstrates their commitment to providing relief and support to those affected by the fire. Efforts are underway to assist the victims during this challenging time.
