Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo of Kogi State convened a productive consultative meeting with farmers in the state at the Government House in Lokoja.

The purpose of the meeting was to address the pressing issue of food security in the face of rising food prices and economic challenges in the country.

In his address to the diverse group of farmers, Governor Ododo emphasized his administration’s commitment to positioning Kogi State as a leader in food production in Nigeria.

He expressed his determination to ensure that the state achieves top ranking in the upcoming harvest season by supporting farmers in producing crops that meet the state’s consumption needs.

Governor Ododo pledged to establish storage facilities to facilitate the off-take of farm produce, thereby promoting food security within the state and creating opportunities for farmers to supply their products to the entire nation.

Additionally, he promised to create robust markets for all agricultural products and to address security and transportation challenges faced by farmers.

During the meeting, Governor Ododo stressed the importance of regular engagement between the state government and farmers.

He also committed to facilitating discussions with investors in the food value chain to further enhance agricultural productivity in the state.

Furthermore, Governor Ododo directed the Auditor General for the State and Local Government Areas to investigate any individuals involved in the misappropriation of tractors purchased by the previous administration.

He further explained that the meeting was a crucial component of the administration’s strategic efforts to engage with farmers and drive agricultural revolution in the state. This initiative aims to ensure food security, increase food production, and enhance marketing efficiency within the state.
