The leadership of the Nigeria Medical Association (NMA), Kogi State Chapter, has sought a stronger partnership with the Kogi State Primary Healthcare Development Agency (KSPHCDA) to advance healthcare delivery and improve the wellbeing of residents across the state.

The call came during a courtesy visit by the leadership of the Association to the Executive Director of KSPHCDA, Dr. Muazu Omeiza Musa.

Receiving the delegation, Dr. Musa urged members of the Association to embrace unity, peace and togetherness, describing them as indispensable to building a strong, effective and respected professional body.

He said the growth and development of any professional association depended largely on the ability of its members to work together in an atmosphere of mutual understanding, cooperation and collective responsibility.

The Executive Director challenged the new NMA leadership to work towards making the Kogi State Chapter one of the most outstanding in the country, stressing that the goal would require purposeful leadership, commitment, sacrifice and a shared vision.

Dr. Musa also urged the Association to look beyond government in its drive for growth and institutional development by exploring partnerships with public-spirited individuals, philanthropists, corporate organisations and other development-oriented stakeholders.

According to him, while government remains a critical partner in healthcare delivery, collaboration with the private sector and other stakeholders could unlock additional opportunities for resource mobilisation, infrastructure development and improved health services.

He further charged the new leadership to reposition the Association for optimum performance through innovative ideas, stronger internal structures and initiatives that promote professionalism, discipline and improved healthcare outcomes.

“The NMA occupies a strategic position in the healthcare system and must continue to demonstrate responsible leadership while contributing positively to the development of the health sector in Kogi State,” Dr. Musa said.

Earlier, the State Chairman of the NMA, Dr. Obari Mary, commended Dr. Musa for his support and commitment to the growth of the Association and the advancement of healthcare delivery in the state.

She appealed for his continued guidance, support and cooperation, noting that the new leadership would benefit from his wealth of experience and deep understanding of the health sector.

Dr. Obari reaffirmed the readiness of the Association to deepen its relationship with KSPHCDA and work closely with the state government and other relevant stakeholders to address healthcare challenges, promote professional excellence and improve the wellbeing of the people.

She said the visit provided an opportunity for both organisations to strengthen institutional ties, exchange ideas and explore areas of collaboration towards building a more responsive, accessible and sustainable healthcare system in Kogi State.
